The Logos Message “Word of God” is NO longer biblical writings but the Person of Jesus Christ:
Careful study will show that the logos message “Word of God” radically changed from the gramma letters/writings of God collected into the graphe scripture of the Old Testament (OT) to something completely different-in-kind by definition of the chadash/kainos New Covenant that dominates the New Testament (NT). This redefinition of Jewish terms by Jewish writers of the NT to specifically reach their Jewish audiences was very common, especially considering the OT only “presently/ongoingly exists-as/defined-as a skia ‘shadow, shade, sketch, outline of a looming object’ of the things routinely/habitually mello ‘that were about ready to happen,’ but-rather the soma ‘physical body’ [that casts the shadow backwards in time] belongs-to Christ (The Anointed One)” per Paul in Colossians 2:17. How much can you really know about an actual person from the fuzzy-shadow is casts on the ground? That’s why although “the Law was didomai bestowed dia ‘thru the realizing channel of’ Moses, The Unconditional-Loving-Favor-of-Grace and/coupled The aletheia Truth (a) definitely/wholly already actually ginomai ’emerged or transitioned from one point/realm/condition to another’ dia ‘thru the realizing channel of Jesus Christ (the Anointed One)” per John 1:17. <Notes> a) aletheia = Jesus Christ per John 14:6 and many verses, “the absolute reality” about God.
In context, from v. 1:1, the first ‘realm/condition’ of Jesus was “the Logos Message-Word was-continually-actually pros ‘extended toward and interacting/interfacing with’ The God and/coupled God was-continually-actually The Logos-Message-Word.” From v. 1:14, the second ‘realm/condition’ that Jesus ’emerged or transitioned’ to is “The Logos-Message-Word sarx flesh (human – see Identity) definitely/wholly-already actually ginomai ’emerged or transitioned from one point/realm/condition to another’ and/coupled definitively/wholly-already, actually skenoo ‘dwelled, as’ among us and/thus we definitively/wholly-already, actually theaomai ‘intently beheld/gazed upon as a spectator in a theatre’ the glory of Him, a glory as of a monogenes ‘one-of-a-kind, one-and-only offspring, thus unique’ from [singular] Father, pleres completely-full of [singular] unconditional-loving-favor-of-Grace and/coupled [singular] aletheia Truth (a).” <Notes> a) aletheia = Jesus Christ per John 14:6 and many verses, “the absolute reality” about God.
In only 4 places within the NT does the Greek word logos refer to OT gramma ‘letters or writings’ of graphe scripture: 1) and 2) are both of Christ arguing with hypocritical Pharisee Jews that their traditions contradicted their own graphe scriptures (a), 3) Christ arguing for His own divinity using the Jew’s graphe scriptures as proof (b) and finally, 4) Paul arguing that God’s stated plans in the Jewish graphe scriptures for Israel haven’t failed because of their rejection of Christ (c). <Notes> a) Matthew 15:6; Mark 7:13, b) John 10:35, c) Romans 9:6.
In every case, the Jewish graphe scriptures are used ONLY to argue against Jews. Again, nowhere does the NT use Jewish graphe scriptures to prove anything to a Gentile-only audience! Gentiles, as most do to this day, could care less about what Jews hold so dear! Every effective teacher adheres to the motto of ‘know thy audience’ to insure what they say is relevant and engaging! Wouldn’t Jesus’ Spirit as “Your ONLY Teacher” per Matthew 23:8 do the same?
What’s confuses a lot of readers is that most English bibles also equally translate the directly spoken/heard prophetic rhema words of God as the “Word of God,” grossly misleading readers to believe that logos and rhema are both the same in meaning. However, “in the original Greek there is a substantial distinction” as Wikipedia’s “Rhema (doctrine)” article rightfully points out!
To confuse matters even more, many English bibles shamefully insert the word “word” into the text where logos or rhema is actually missing (a), or when another Greek word doesn’t necessarily mean “word” at all (b)! No wonder so many wrong doctrines are created from reading English bibles that ultimately become “traditions of men” to further mislead the Church – see Bible Info. <Notes> a) e.g., Matthew 11:2, b) e.g., Matthew 6:7 “heard for their many words” should simply be “heard their speaking.”
The Logos Message “Word of God” is Jesus Christ as the Communication of God:
Logos is the common word for “communication that focuses on message content rather than on the delivery method as rhema does,” thus best translated simply as “message.” Although many bibles will correctly translate logos as “message” in many places (a), every bible continues to obscure the meaning of Jesus as the logos Message of God (b) by continuing to translate it only as “Word of God.” See also Wikipedia’s “Logos (Christianity)” article. <Notes> a) albeit inconsistently – another big problem of theirs, b) John 1:1, 14, 11:3; 1 John 1:1; Revelation 19:13; Hebrews 11:3; 2 Peter 3:5-7.
Logos communication can sometimes include speaking and akouo hearing/listening to understand/know, like rhema always does, such as with: Christ’s gospel logos message(s) (a), or akouo hearing/listening to understand/know Christian preaching of the “Great News” gospel logos message of The Truth who is Jesus Christ (b), or the gospel logos message that is the mystery of Christ (c), or a second-hand report about this occurring (d), or the sound gospel logos messages of trusting-relying-faith and unconditional-love passed from Paul to his trainees to be akouo heard/listened to understand/know (e), or the [gospel] logos message that is the only 2 commandments of trusting-relying-faith and unconditional-love (f) that Christians have heard from the beginning [of their faith] (g), or the final gospel prophetic logos message of Revelation (h); or the “Voice of God whose directly-spoken/heard prophetic rhema words made the hearers beg that no further logos messages be spoken to them” (i), or the speaking or report of any other logos message (j). James 1:22 warns “to be doers of the logos message, not hearers only,” just as Jesus said, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the (Christ’s gospel) logos message of God and do it [by coming to trusting-relying-faith in Jesus]” (k).

However, careful study shows that “The Logos of God” in the New Testament has very little to do with “the logos message/word of God” in the Old Testament at all! We will see that a fallen-away Catholic Church around 233-254 AD, almost single-handedly by the powerful, ambitious bishop Origen, took what was once God’s logos message ONLY to His Jewish “children” to prepare them for the Messiah (the OT) and incorporated it into the completely-different-in-kind kainos New Covenant Church that was so completely Gentile by then that it wasn’t using any parts of the OT shortly after 150 AD where Justin Martyr recorded that singing the Psalms was all that was left, and only for a scattered Jewish-Christian congregations. Nevertheless Origen created a 6-translations OT called ‘The Hexapla’ in 240 AD and wrote 375 sermons/homilies on it that were to be preached in Church. He tried to mix oil and water, or putting “completely-different-in-kind kainos New wine into palaios ‘old, antiquated, worn-out, useless’ wineskins” – see New Covenant Ways – BT7, – BT8, – BT9, – BT10, and – BT11. This “borrowing” from the OT is exactly the foundational problem of The Great Wall quenching the Holy Spirit in the Church!
The emphasis of ALL logos communication is on rationally understanding the content of directly-spoken/heard rhema words (a), whereas rhema itself emphasizes the delivery of those directly-spoken/heard words – that it’s first-hand, direct contact in the present moment, never second-hand or indirect after the fact! Furthermore, logos communication can be written down with gramma letters/writings and passed on from person to person, read, and analyzed or studied to be rationally understand, and thus involves second-hand, indirect gnosis informational knowledge, something rhema can never involve because rhema requires personal, relational, experiential contact ginosko knowledge and if the writer wants to emphasize that it is then “genuine or full,” they will use the verb epiginosko or noun epignosis! Which would you rather have? <Notes> a) Matthew 13:19, 23; John 8:43.
Jesus Christ as always been the Logos Message “Word of God” even before He became Flesh:
The New Testament has radically redefined the “Logos of God” as: the Living, Active, Sharp Logos Message of God (a) who we are born-again/from-above ek out-from (b). Thus almost everywhere, even below, I’ve translated it better than most bibles for the sake of clarity. NOW Jesus is the Living Logos Communicating-Message of God (c); of Jesus as the Creator of the earth, heavens, and entire universe (d). <Notes> a) Hebrews 4:12, b) 1 Peter 1:23, c) John 1:1, 14; 1 John 1:1; Revelation 19:13, d) John 11:3; Hebrews 11:3; 2 Peter 3:5-7.
However, it’s also Christ’s “Great News gospel” logos message of zoe genuine-life (a); a gospel logos message Christ also preached faithfully with the exact words of God (b), even though many Jews “stumbled over this lithos ‘Stone’ or Petra ‘massive, bedrock, foundational’ Rock of offense’ and thus ‘disobeyed the gospel logos message’” (c). “The sound logos messages of our Lord” were definitely not graphe scripture that the Jews would have been quick to agree with (d), but instead was primarily the gospel logos message of God (e) that the Jews constantly argued against, the gospel message that Jesus preached about the kingdom of God even by parables (f). <Notes> a) Philippians 2:16; Acts 5:20, b) John 3:34, 7:16, 12:49, 14:10, 24, c) 1 Peter 2:8, d) 1 Timothy 6:3; Luke 5:1, 8:11, 21, 11:28; John 3:34, 8:47, e) Acts 15:7; Romans 9:6; 1 Corinthians 14:36; 1 Peter 1:25, f) Mark 4:10-20; Luke 8:9-15.
Christ gave many gospel logos messages about Himself that many put their trusting-relying-faith in (a), and this “obedience to [singular: The Christian] Faith” (b) was obedience to the gospel logos message (c) that made a person spiritually clean/forgiven (d) for The Unconditional-Love of/belonging-to God to be ‘matured or completed’ within a person (e), which is the implanted gospel logos message that is able to save our souls (f). Certainly we are blessed by invitations to the marriage supper of the Lamb, for these are the true gospel logos messages of God (g) that are thus trustworthy (h), which we are blessed by if we keep (i), which people thus act on with trusting-relying-faith (j). <Notes> a) John 4:41, b) Romans 1:5, 16:26, c) Acts 6:7; 1 Peter 3:1, d) John 15:3, e) 1 John 2:5, f) James 1:21, g), Revelation 19:9, h) Revelation 21:5, 22:6, i) Revelation 22:7, 9-10, 18-19, j) John 4:50.
The Logos Message “Word of God” is thus the preached Gospel Message of Jesus Christ:
Furthermore, it is the gospel logos message that was also preached everywhere by the early Church and its ministers (a) as a logos message of their testimony/witness even to the end of the ages (b). It was also taught as the sound doctrine of trusting-relying-faith, unconditional-love, and godliness to pastors of high moral character to correct those who would contradict it (c). It is the “[gospel] logos message of Christ that is to dwell in us richly” (d). It is the gospel logos message of God “that meno abides/remains [by the Holy Spirit] in Christians to overcome the evil one (e). The “logos message of God” that makes all things (f) holy isn’t the 97.4 % of OT that is Law-based but “the [gospel] logos messages of The-Trusting-Relying-Faith” (g). However, it’s “the kalos ‘beautifully-good that inspires/motivates others to embrace what is lovely & praiseworthy’ (h) of the directly-spoken/rhema-word of God and/coupled the dunamis dynamite-like enabling-power [of the Holy Spirit’s signs & wonders miracles] of the age to come” that Jewish-Christians had already “tasted” (i).

Furthermore, it is “the gospel logos message of The Truth” that is to be “rightly-handled” and “heralded/proclaimed in and out of season” (a) that made us first-fruits of Christ’s creatures (b). The gospel “logos message of God” that isn’t to be tampered with, isn’t OT scripture but-instead the open proclamation/manifested exhibition of The Truth [who is Jesus] (c). The gospel “logos message of His unconditionally-loving-favor-of-grace” (d) is the gospel “logos message of the cross” (e). <Notes> a) Ephesians 1:13; Colossians 1:5; 2 Timothy 2:15; Titus 1:3, b) James 1:18, c) 2 Corinthians 4:2, d) Acts 20:32, e) 1 Corinthians 1:18.
The gospel “logos message of righteousness” is what Jewish-Christians were to be skilled at instead of the “milk” of “the stoicheion rudimentary ‘abc’ fundamentals of the [prophetic] oracles/utterances of God,” which are about 2.6% the OT scripture (a) used to convert Jews to Christ. “God’s logos message” that wasn’t to be peddled – unlike so many of today’s preachers do (b) is the gospel “logos message of God” that Christians are slain for (c). Jesus also gave His servants prophetic rhema words compiled into logos messages of the future that could encourage others (d) but the future logos messages of God are coupled to the testimony/witness of Jesus Christ (e), and these prophetic logos messages of God will all be fulfilled (f). <Notes> a) Hebrews 5:12-13; Romans 3:2; Acts 7:38; 1 Peter 4:11, b) 2 Corinthians 4:2, c) Revelation 6:9, d) 1 Thessalonians 4:15, 18, e) Revelation 1:2, 9, 20:4, f) Revelations 17:17.
There is absolutely NO WAY that you can say the Bible is NOW the Logos Message “Word of God”:
Knowing all this, it’s absolutely incorrect to hold up a bible and say, “This is the Word of God!” That’s because the OT was ONCE the written logos message “Word of God” 2000-3500 years ago, and the NT writings don’t even claim to be more such logos messages “Word of God” as gramma letters/writings collected into more graphe scripture. Not one Church Father claimed this until the Catholic theologian Tertullian first claimed this around 208 AD in his desperate arguments against the Jews and against the Monarchian Praxeas and Bishop Marcion of Sinope, who the Catholic Church had branded as heretics, that Christians also had authoritarian graphe scripture!
Instead the NT says that NOW Jesus is the “Living Logos Message of God” (a), NOW on earth for us as His Holy Spirit symbolized as “the [fresh, running] Living water” (b). That’s why the NT emphasis is on Jesus as “the Living Logos Message of God” and His preached (not written) gospel logos message, not just what comes out of a preacher’s mouth but particularly the message content that comes through the directly-spoken/heard prophetic rhema “Word of God“ as given by revelation (c) by-the-means-of the Holy Spirit (d). But this is “kept hidden from the so-called wise and learned” Jewish scholars (scribes) and teachers (Pharisees), but “revealed/unhidden to little children and other least among you” (e) directly by prophecy (f) so that “by present/ongoing scrutiny (g) we may then discern (h) what is the will of God” (i) – see New Covenant Ways – BT16. This is NOW the WAY of knowing, learning, and being encouraged (j)!

It’s as simple as this: Just as the New (a) Covenant is completely different-in-kind “New” (a) from the old covenant by definition (a), so is its [gospel] logos message! You can’t mix oil and water, but so many Christians and churches try because they simply don’t understand how often the NT warns repetitively us not to even try! They simply don’t understand this: “For all the Prophets and the Law (b) definitively/wholly prophesied (c) UNTIL (d) John” (e), and “The Law and the Prophets were [f] UNTIL (g) John (the Baptist); [but] SINCE that time (h) the ‘Great News’ gospel of the kingdom of God is presently/ongoingly preached (i)” (j) – not written down, later categorized, to then be read, studied, and debated for thousands of years so people could be guided by God.
<Notes> a) chadash, kainos: fresh, completely different-in-kind, unprecedented, sharing nothing with its predecessors, unique, and superior, b) the most common division of the OT, c) foretold future events, spoke from divine inspiration, d) heos: continued until or as far as, e) Matthew 11:13, f) verb inserted: ‘were proclaimed’ NASB, NIV or ‘in effect’ NRSV or ‘in force’ NET, g) mechri: as far as, up to a certain point, h) apo tote, i) euaggelizo: announced/proclaimed as ‘Great News’, thus evangelized, j) Luke 16:16.
Now, do you understand why Paul was “beaten with rods three times and stoned once” (a)? Paul threatened the purpose and livelihoods of every scribe, Pharisee, and Sadducee – every bible-student! The last book of OT scripture was finished 400 years before John the Baptist, but Matthew was saying these OT scriptures were still “divinely speaking of future events” UNTIL John. John was the last OT prophet to prophecy, the “Elijah who was to come,” in order to “prepare the way” for the Lord (b). <Notes> a) 2 Corinthians 11:25, b) Matthew 3:3, 11:14;17:10-13; Mark 1:3, 9:11-13; Luke 1:76, 3:4.
Reflections:
As Christian musicians, do we want to perpetuate the fallacy that the entire OT is STILL the logos message “Word of God” to men when clearly it is NOT any longer? Shouldn’t we convey that NOW under the completely-different-in-kind New Covenant that it is instead Jesus Christ and His gospel message, which only 2.6% of the OT actually prophetically points to? Isn’t the gospel the power of God unto soteria salvation that includes being made whole and healed by the definition of soteria?
Shouldn’t we also be relying more on the prophetic rhema “Word of God” as the NT emphasizes as “The Promise” for the Church Age? Instead of reading and studying so much as the scribes and Pharisees did, which got them nowhere per John 5:38-47, shouldn’t we be instead listening and watching for God to speak to us like the OT and NT prophets we were ALL called to be per Acts 2:17-18 and 1 Corinthians 12:31, 14:1, 39? Shouldn’t we be like little children and other least among you instead of bible-scholars? I’m preaching to myself! Isn’t that part of why the New Covenant was supposed to be completely different-in-kind from the old covenant that just didn’t work?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You so much that You “know Your audience” and speak to Gentiles what is relevant to them, but to your Jewish children, You used the OT scriptures that they cared about, especially to counter the arguments of the Law-teachers so they could see their need for You to save them, even from the condemnation of their own graphe scriptures! Thank You Lord that You have ‘woken us to The Truth’ that “ALL the Law and Prophets were only UNTIL the preaching of the ‘Great News’ logos message of the gospel!”
Whatever the old covenant “given by Moses” was, it sure wasn’t “The Grace or The Truth,” because thank God these ginomai ’emerged or transitioned from one point/realm/condition to another’ dia ‘thru the realizing channel of’ Jesus Christ.” Thank You that we no longer have to be feed ‘milk’ like babies or learn the stoicheion abc’s like the Jews being treated as “little children” were, even from the Prophetic Oracles/Utterances about the Messiah and His New Covenant that Jews were and are still converted by. NOW we can eat the ‘solid food’ of “practicing scrutinizing-discernment of good and evil” by the means of the Paraklete Holy Spirit in order to NOW “know the genuine, acceptable, pleasing will of God” and thus NOW to be parakaleo ‘counselled, comforted, encouraged, exhorted, and taught’ directly by You, just as with ALL the prophets You call us to become!
Thank You God for the “fresh, unprecedented, completely different-in-kind New Covenant” with all its radically-different definitions of palaios ‘old, antiquated, worn-out, useless’ words from a like-kind palaios old covenant, because the graphe scriptures were but a “shadow, copy, type, or figure” of “the real substance of things to come” – and many of these have already come! Thank You Lord for creating completely different-in-kind “New words” just as with spontaneous “New songs” just for today, those You speak to each of us with prophetic-rhema words, so that NOW You can confidently say “They shall ALL be taught by God.”
Thank You also for delivering us from the “snare, trap, and retribution” (see New Covenant Ways – BT17) of “the wise and understanding” bible students who refuse to recognize the many copying and translation errors of bible, the tens of thousands of textual variants, the erroneous insertion of words that don’t exist even in the best manuscripts, the adding of meanings that don’t exist in the best lexicons, and even translating unique words into the same word to further obscure the truth. Lord, “forgive them for they know not what they do!” See Bible Info.
Praise Your name that You go right around all these problems within 3,415 language bible translations – and numerous versions within each of these, even in 900 English bibles – by NOW teaching us directly by the means of Your Spirit through the prophetic-rhema words of God, thus no longer requiring us to study any gramma writings mistook for Your logos message “Word of God” as the scribes and Pharisees painstakingly did, who nonetheless failed miserably in actually knowing Your Word or Your Unconditional-Love! They failed because they would not be like the prophets who always “come-near/close to You for genuine-life.” Praise Your name that NOW “ALL Your men and woman servants can prophesy, even by visions and dreams” per Acts 2:17-28 so that we can exactly know Your thoughts and will! Moses’ desire that “that all God’s people would be prophets” in Numbers 11:29 was fulfilled!
Thank You Jesus that now under Your completely different-in-kind New Covenant we can rightly view the logos message “Word of God” instead as You, the actual “Living, active, sharper than a double-edged sword, Communicator of God,” and Your logos message “Word of God” as the content of Your gospel message about having trusting-relying-faith in You, a message content that You continue to preach through Your servants, the only message content that contains the enabling-power of God for salvation, the message content of which we can sunesis ‘connect-the-dots’ understand/know, not through Pharisee-like study but NOW by the means of Your “One is Your Teacher” Holy Spirit, together with “signs, wonders, and grace-gifts of the Spirit that accompany those who actually DO HAVE trusting-relying-faith – ALL given to confirm the message, who is You Lord Jesus” per Mark 16:16-20. This message content is clearly no longer a book of gramma writings let alone a graphe book of “decrees, commandments, precepts, ordinances, regulations, and rules” to live by! We have died to these “handwritings of God, nailed to the cross, that we should live for another” – You Lord Jesus!
Praise Your name for making it so simple NOW, especially for “little children and the other least among us,” which “the secrets of the kingdom will be revealed to first” before the so-called “wise and understanding” bible students! NOW we only have 1 combined commandment to faithfully “keep watch or guard over and to teach disciples,” as given by Your Great Commission – “to definitively/wholly have trusting-relying-faith in name/person/authority of Your Son Jesus Christ and/coupled to presently/ongoingly unconditionally-love one another just as Your Son already-gave us His completely different-in-kind New commandment.” Praise Your name that the ‘obedience that counts for anything’ is NOW “the obedience of trusting-relying-faith working dia ‘thru the realizing channel of’ love” by having trusting-relying-faith in “One Man’s obedience,” which was the thesis statement of Paul’s gospel to the Roman empire and the core of every other writing of his.
Lord, we won’t make the mistake religious people do of trying to “put the New Wine” of the New Covenant into the “old wineskins” of the old covenant “to ruin them both” – this is the foundation of ‘The Great Wall quenching the Holy Spirit in the Church.” You “ended the first covenant to make occasion for the second.” The first “was fulfilled and has vanished away.” I am so grateful that I no longer have to read, study, and analyze ancient writings in foreign languages, often poorly copied and translated over thousands of years, even today by careless authors, to get bits and pieces of second-hand knowledge out of them, never with the original tone, body language, full intended meaning or impact the bible authors attempted to express when they first directly heard and saw the directly-spoken prophetic-rhema words of God that alone “are the bread that we can genuinely-live on” or “that never come back void but accomplish what they were set out to do.”
Thank You for calling us ALL back to the prophetic-rhema “Word of God” that you wanted for ALL of the Jews to be taught by, but they refused to meet with you personally “so that they would be caused to not sin” by Your direct communication, but instead assigned Moses to do this in Exodus 20:18-21, resulting in gramma letters collected much later by the Jews into graphe scripture. Forgive us ALL for wanting tablets, scrolls, paper, and ink more than You directly teaching us to make us holy or sanctified. Guide us NOW as we read these other BLOG topics below. Amen.
