Christ is the ONLY person to follow as our example (a) of the only 2 NT commandments – see Coaches & Facilitators.  In the 1-2 thousand words of Jesus, He taught these same things over and over:  “Having trusting-relying-faith in Him and ongoingly unconditional-loving others just-like He does.”  This proves our love for God and love for Jesus and being His disciple by following His gospel logos message of only 2 commandments (b).  <Notes> a) John 13:15; Romans 15:3, 8; Philippians 2:5-8; 1 Peter 2:21, b) John 8:31, 13:35, 14:15, 15:7-10.

A careful study will show that both pistis trusting-relying-faith and agape unconditional-love” are experiential, relational ginosko knowledge words.  They are not informational gnosis knowledge words of dogma creeds or didache doctrine or theology at all!  Paul used the phrase “trusting-relying-faith and/coupled unconditional-love” 5 times (a).  There are 23 other verses that use them in close proximity to one another or connects them in some way (b). <Notes> a) 1 Thessalonians 3:6, 5:8; 1 Timothy 1:14, 2:15; 2 Timothy 1:13, b) 1 Corinthians 13:2, 13; 2 Corinthians 8:7; Galatians 2:20, 5:6, 22; Ephesians 1:15, 3:17, 6:23; Colossians 1:4; 1 Thessalonians 1:3; 2 Thessalonians 1:3; 1 Timothy 1:5, 4:12, 6:11; 2 Timothy 2:22, 3:10; Titus 2:2, 3:15; Philemon 1:5; James 2:5; Revelation 1:5, 2:19.

John often refers to this compound construction as “this commandment” (a) and thus naturally vacillates between the [plural] and [singular] of “His commandment” (b).  John says you can’t say you have one without the other:  You can’t say you have trusting-relying-faith in and/or unconditionally-love of God or Christ but then not unconditionally-love His children (c), because if the “God who is Unconditional-Love” by definition is living in you as His Seed (d) by His Holy Spirit (e) and you are thus “born of God” (f) then you will have, by nature, His unconditional-love for others, especially for His own children – His Son and fellows Christians!  Yet, even knowing all this isn’t enough!  Jesus didn’t leave us orphans with just gnosis info-knowledge of all this!  Only Christ’s promised Holy Spirit is “The Way’sdunamis dynamite-like enabling-power to actually be holy – see Spirit-Promise and Spirit-Power pages. <Notes> a) 1 John 3:23, cf. 1 John 4:21, b) 1 John 2:3-4, 3:22-24, 5:2-3; 2 John 1:6, cf. John 12:50, 14:15, 21, 15:10; Revelation 12:17, 14:12, c) 1 John 3:10-11, 4:7, 11, 21, 5:1-2, 5-6, 9-11; 2 John 1:5; John 8:42, d) 1 John 3:9, e) 1 John 3:24, 4:13, f) 1 John 4:7, 5:1.

When Christ created a completely-different-in-kind (a) New Covenant by His blood, it wasn’t just “new” or “younger” in age which is the Greek word neos, it was “completely-different-in-kind and unprecedented from everything that came before it and thus superior.  As a patent term, it cannot “borrow” anything from the old covenant for the New Covenant!  This is exactly the meaning of the New Covenant “wine” of Christ’s blood and Holy Spirit being put into the old covenant’s “wineskins” of commandments and rituals or “both will be ruined” – see New Covenant Ways – BT7, – BT8, – BT9, and – BT10.  In mathematical set theory, the two circles don’t even touch let alone overlap to create a union! <Notes> a) chadash, kainos: fresh, completely-different-in-kind, unprecedented, sharing nothing with its predecessors, unique, and superior.

One of the biggest problems I see in the Church’s teaching is not understanding the radical difference between the 2 covenants.  It absolutely breaks my heart!  This is the foundational problem of “The Great Wall” blocking or quenching the Holy Spirit that’s keeping the Church from revival – they have built themselves on an old foundation of Zechariah 4:6’s “might and power” instead of the “NEW” (a) foundation “by My Spirit, says Yahweh of hosts.”  <Notes> a) chadash, kainos: fresh, completely-different-in-kind, unprecedented, sharing nothing with its predecessors, unique, and superior.

The single “righteous requirement of the Law of commandments” (a) to be completely obedient to ALL 613 of God’s OT commandments, and this was completely fulfilled by One man’s obedience – Jesus, so that many will be made righteous (b), so now Christians are no longer under the Law but under unconditional-loving-favor-of-grace (c).  We are completely free from the Law of commandments (d) that has been katargeo abolished (e) – “rendered inoperative by working/bringing them down to the point of being idle, inert, inoperative, ceased, abolished, invalidated, abrogated, and put out/away from us!”  <Notes> a) Romans 8:4, b) Romans 5:19, c) Romans 6:14, d) Acts 13:39; Romans 7:3, 8:2; Galatians 2:4, 4:22-23, 26, 30-31, 5:1, 13, e) Ephesians 2:15; Romans 4:14, 7:2, 7:6; 2 Corinthians 3:11, 13, 14; Galatians 3:17.

How was it ended?  Because Christ pleroo completely-fulfilled it (a), Jesus has teleo fulfilled, accomplished, completed, finished it (b), telos ended it (c), anaireo takes, lifts-up/away to abolish/abrogate it (d), by nailing it to His cross (e). <Notes> a) Matthew 5:17; John 19:28, b) John 19:30, c) Luke 22:37; Romans 10:4; 2 Corinthians 3:13, d) Hebrews 10:9, e) Colossians 2:14.

Why was it ended?  Because the first covenant was “memphomai faulted-blameworthy-rejectable-condemnable” (a) and “thus palaioo made old, dated, or ancient in time, but also worn out by use, or worse for wear, and thus obsolete.”  That’s the Old Testament!  However, the second covenant is “a kreitton more useful, serviceable, helpful, better covenant” (b) in every way!  It amazes me how many Christians absolutely don’t believe this!  Every religion and Christian cult tries to add something to the finished, completed work of Christ. See New Covenant Ways<Notes> a) Hebrews 8:7, b) Hebrews 7:22.

Reflection:

As Christian musicians, Christ and His Spirit are our examples not just in gospel teaching but nature and lifestyle of the only 2 commandments given to Christians of “trusting-relying-faith and/coupled unconditional-love for one another.”  In fact, the indwelling Holy Spirit producing this in our life is the only proof that we are born again and actually know or love God or Christ and that we are indeed Christ’s disciples and not part of some philosophy, religion, or cult of this world, even the Jewish religion in disguise!  These 2 commandments, none of the 613 OT ones, are so integrated 28 times in the NT, even combined into 1 commandment from The God, that they can’t be separated, because both have to do with God’s nature and our relationship with Him – God first showed His unconditionally-love for us by sending His only-begotten Son to die for us and offers that grace-gift to us.  Indeed polus ‘many, a great number, a multitude’ are kletos ‘called, invited, or summoned’ to salvation by God (a).  He voted for our salvation!  This is God’s NEW “labor of love.”  <Notes> a) Matthew 22:14

Because of free-will, having been made in the image of God, He awaits our response of “Yes” to His invitation, having kletos “called, invited, summoned” us – that’s His vote for us.  This “yes” is our having trusting-relying-faith enough to dechomai warmly-welcome and lambano ‘reach out and take’ that grace-gift of unconditional-love for ourselves.  That is our vote for our salvation!  It is the completely-different-in-kind and superior NEW “work of faith” or “obedience of faith” that is expressed by our surrendering-repentance, confession of “Jesus is Lord (Supreme Master-Owner)” at our water-baptism in order “for the forgiveness of sins” and to receive the grace-gift of Spirit-baptism (a).  With 2 votes in for ‘us,’ we THEN become God’s eklektos “elect” (b), for polus ‘many, a great number, a multitude’ are kletos ‘called, invited, or summoned’ [ones] but-only oligos ‘few in number’ [are] eklektos elect [ones]” (c).  It take both votes to win this election and be “elected.”  <Notes> a) Acts 2:38; John 9:22; Romans 10:29; Hebrews 3:1, 4:14; 1 John 4:2, 3, 15, b) Matthew 20:16, 14, 24:22, 24, 31; Mark 13:20, 22, 27; Luke 18:7, 23:35; Romans 8:33, 16:13; Colossians 3:12; 2 Timothy 2:10; Titus 1:1; 1 Peter 1:1, 2:9; 2 John 1:1; Revelation 17:14, c) Matthew 22:14.

God is gentle with His unconditional-love (a), so He is not going to ‘rig the vote’ like the 2020 election or ignore your vote – He believes in democracy!  He waits to see if you agree with Him, the very definition of homologeo confession and koinonia partnershipUnconditional-love is also The Way God feels and acts towards others, The Way that is living in Christians, and so it would naturally demonstrate itself in The Way we feel and act towards others – Christ is our only example to follow.  Be careful about following men – see Coaches & Facilitators<Notes> a) Matthew 11:29; 2 Corinthians 10:1.

These 2 NEW Covenant commandments by definition and all the verses that speak of them are not just neos “younger or newer in time,” but are chadash, kainos: fresh, completely-different-in-kind, unprecedented, sharing nothing with its predecessors, unique, and superior.  You can’t mix these “NEW wine” elements with anything else and certainly not the OT Law “wineskins” of 613 commandments and latreuo ritual-worship-serving or both will be ruined.  You can’t mix oil and water no matter how much you shake it!  Any ‘borrowing’ creates The Great Wall quenching the Holy Spirit in the Church. You have to choose between Zechariah 4:6’s “might and power” or “by My Spirit, says Yahweh of hosts.”  It’s either our “obedience of works of righteousness” that “find favor, make us right, or more pleasing God” and thus is “earned, deserved, and merited” by meeting certain stipulated conditions, but this is the palaios/palaioo “old, dated, or ancient in time, but also worn out by use, or worse for wear, and thus obsolete” covenant.  Or we can choose Christ’s “one act of obedience that makes many righteous” under the chadash, kainos New Covenant, based on unearned, undeserved, and unmerited, unconditional-loving-favor-of-grace.  Which will you choose to live under?  If you try to mix them, you “have fallen from unconditional-loving-favor-of-grace and are severed from Christ” per Galatians 5:4!

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for voting for our salvation by Your unconditional-love through Christ’s suffering and death.  Thank You for giving us the free-will to vote for our salvation by saying “Yes” to Your free grace-gift of Your gospel “Christ on the cross for us” logos message.  We vote Yes by surrendering in repentance, confession, and water-baptism so that we can receive Your promised grace-gift of the Holy Spirit, Christ IN us, as a first-fruit of our inheritance to come, the resurrection of our bodies to be glorified in Your presence at Your coming.  Thank You for nailing all 613 commandments to Your cross so that we can NOW be free to have an actual trusting-relying-faith and unconditionally-loving relationship with You and others just as You gave us an example to follow through Christ.  Thank You that is no longer a matter of our “obedience works of righteousness” or our “might and power” but simply having trusting-relying-faith, the “work of faith” or “obedience of faith” in Your “one act of obedience that made many righteous” and “your unconditional-love for the world that you would send your only-begotten Son to die for us.”

Spiritual Education, New covenant has on 2 commandments coupled into 1 – Faith in Christ and Love for others, Holy Spirit is the power for obedience NOW, Being a disciple is following Christ’s example of His only 2 commandments, 28 verses that faith and love are related, Jesus didn’t die to leave us a bible but His Holy Spirit as our One-Teacher and Power to live, Nothing in the old covenant is shared in the New Covenant – no more writings done by our might & power, You can’t mix the old covenant into the New because the old is abolished & replaced, The Old is obsolete and the New is superior
