That’s what the early history of the Church recorded: “They were ALL filled with the Holy Spirit and/coupled began to speak in other tongues/languages as the Spirit gave them utterance” (a).  Later on the Jewish believers with Peter were “amazed that the grace-gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Gentiles, for they akouo heard-to-understand them speaking in tongues/languages and/coupled extolling God, . . . [Peter said] for they have lambano ‘actively/aggressively taking hold of the offering for themselves’ the Holy Spirit in the same manner as we have” (b) – see Spirit-Promise. <Notes> a) Acts 2:4, b) Acts 10:44-47.

This “filling” isn’t a one-time event, because throughout the early history of the Church the same Christians getting Spirit-baptized again and again (a), just as the apostle Paul was (b). In fact, Paul strongly urgings using the Greek imperative Christians to “become [definitively/wholly] completely-filled-to-the-brim eis ‘toward and reaching the goal/purpose of’ ALL the abundant-fullness of God, [habitually/routinely] being completely-filled-to-the-brim by-the-means/instrument-of the Spirit” (c). <Notes> a) Acts 2:2, 4, 4:8, 31, 13:52, b) Acts 9:17, 13:9, c) Ephesians 3:19, 5:18.

Furthermore, Paul confidently says to Christians: “God, who gives His Holy Spirit to you . . . Now concerning brotherly love, you have absolutely-in-fact-NO need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have already been taught by God to unconditionally-love one another” (a).  Paul clearly indicates God’s Holy Spirit of “unconditional-love” (b) to be the “One Teacher” (c), who being the Holy Spirit also of “self-control/mastery” (d), teaches them to “not [unlovingly] defraud their brethren in this matter” (e) by giving in “to passionate lust like godless people” instead of “controlling/mastering one’s body” – this is the context of Paul saying they already have “been taught by God to unconditionally-love one another.” <Notes> a) 1 Thessalonians 4:8-9, b) Galatians 5:22, c) Matthew 23:8 – see Teach One Another – BT10, d) Galatians 5:23, e) going after other men’s wives.

John also says thatunconditional-love” is “the [gospel] logos message or “commandment” you have had or heard from the beginning [of their Christian walk]” (a).  Paul also says: “They have become callous…sensual, greedy, … impure.  But that is not the manner you understood/learned (b) the Christ (c) – assuming that you have akouo heard/listened-to-understand Him and/coupled were taught by the means of Him, seeing that [singular] Truth is in-the-location-of this [Christ] Jesus, to put off [like dirty clothes of] your old (d) self . . . and put on [fresh clean clothes of] the new (e) self….in true righteousness and/coupled holiness” (f). We know the old man death and new man birth happens in water-baptism.

<Notes> a) 1 John 2:7, 24, 3:11; 2 John 1:5-6, b) manthano: heard to be informed of, cf. ‘learned from the Father’ to be ‘taught by God’ in John 6:45, ‘learning from Christ’ in Matthew 11:29, and learning by prophecy in 1 Corinthians 14:31 – see Prophetic Rhema, c) means Anointed One, d) worn out, outdated, useless – the same word used for “old covenant,” e) kainos: fresh, completely different-in-kind, unprecedented, sharing nothing with its predecessors, unique, and superior – the same word for the New Covenant, f) Ephesians 4:20-22.

Therefore, “The [singular] Truth” is NOT gnosis info-knowledge that you get from sunesis ‘connect-the-dots’ rational, analytical, inductive understanding of the bible, but being taught directly from Jesus who said, “I am The Truth” (a), but now during the Church Age being taught directly by-the-means-of “the Spirit of Christ” (b), “the Spirit of the Lord” (c), for “the Spirit is the One who testifies/bears witness, because the Spirit is The Truth” (d), “the Spirit of The Truth . . . He dwells WITH/beside you (as Christ while on earth) but shall actually be IN you (after the resurrection, after Jesus was glorified – John 7:39)” (e). <Notes> a) John 14:6, b) Romans 8:9; Philippians 1:19; 1 Peter 1:11, c) Acts 5:9, 8:39; 2 Corinthians 3:17-18, d) 1 John 5:6, e) John 14:17.

The Spirit of the Truth, Jesus, dwelling in us is HOW to be unconditionally-loving, righteous, and holy!  Christians simply are to “have the mind/heart/inner-being of Christ” (a), where the “inner-being of Christ” is certainly His Spirit, and this is how we will think Christ’s thoughts and feel His feelings! “Where the Spirit of the Lord [Jesus] is, there is freedom [from slavery]” (b), so “to phroneo ‘to think/feel/opinionate or direct-your-mind/heart or strive after’ the Spirit is zoe genuine-life and peace” for “The Spirit of God . . will give zoe genuine-life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” (c). The answer to knowing God and His will is NOT learning scripture or having more of it, but it’s being filled by-the-means-of-the Holy Spirit!  <Notes> a) 1 Corinthians 2:16; Philippians 2:5, b) 2 Corinthians 3:17, c) Romans 8:5-6, 11.

Reflections:

As Christian musicians, when are we going to stop relying on things like bibles and men teachers like other religions do, when the completely-different-in-kind New Covenant promises that “One is Your Teacher” who is the Holy Spirit of Christ so that “you are not to call any of you ‘teacher’ because you are all brethren” and “because you have the Anointing of the Holy One (Christ), you have absolutely in fact no need that any man teach you because the Anointing teaches you everything!”  When will we believe Jesus and the Apostle John, or the Apostle Paul who said we were to be “ALL taught by God” citing the OT prophecy of Isaiah, or the Apostle Peter citing the OT prophecy of Joel who on the first sermon of the Church said that during these last days Church age, the way God will speak to us is by prophecy to all His men and women servants?  When will we stop reading, studying, and memorizing bible verses like the scribes and Pharisees futilely did, and instead watch and listen and feel in proseuche conversational-prayer for God to teach us by His Holy Spirit when that was “the promise” of the completely-different-in-kind New Covenant?

When are we going to abandon gnosis head-knowledge and instead embrace eido mental ‘seeing’ to perceive-understanding and genuine, full, experiential, relational epignosis knowledge thru direct contact with God and direct teaching from God?  Until we abandon the stoicheion rudimentary ‘abc’ fundamentals of “reading, writing, and arithmetic” to learn from God, we will not learn by the “Spirit of discernment to distinguish good from evil that requires practice” – see New Covenant Ways – BT16.  God’s “wisdom and understanding” is not gained from studying old books like the scribes and Pharisees, but through revelation of the Holy Spirit as we “draw near/beside Him” so that “He will draw near/beside us and be a Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him out?”  When are we going to abandon “diligently searching the scriptures supposing/opinionating that in them we will take hold of zoe genuine-life everlasting,” when Jesus said “they simply testify about Me so that you would Come to Me for zoe genuine-life, but you refuse to do so!”  Is that what He will say to much of the Church that has spent more time with their bibles than they have ever with Him in prayer?  Will He say to them also, “I know what you have done ‘in my name,’ but I never really knew you?”

Spiritual Education, Knowledge of God and His Will, The New Covenant Promise was for One-Teacher Holy Spirit thru prophecy, Pentecost was the model for the Church Age, Prophecy and tongues are signs of the Filling of the Spirit, Spirit-Baptism started in Water-Baptism but meant to be a lifestyle habit, The Holy Spirit’s anointing NOT the bible is to guide us into ALL truth, We are all to be directly taught by God NOT the bible or other teachers, The Truth to know isn’t bible information but Jesus Christ intimately
